Located in the old French quarter in Shanghai, Tianzifang is a shopping an artistic enclave popular amongst tourists. It is very interesting to see the old architectural features of the French Quarter including the small buildings and narrow alleyways that you will navigate whilst exploring and shopping here.
Many artists have set up galleries and displays for their artwork in the former factory buildings in a very similar setup to M50 that is also in Shanghai.
If you have a sweet tooth then I advise you to find “Candy Lab” where there is a large amount of confectionary available in many different varieties. There are various teashops and small take away food places too if you wish to grab a snack and go continue exploring.
I was fortunate to come across another XMJ Photography gallery that I thoroughly enjoyed after first stumbling across it at M50.
The small dark alleys and winding paths make the area a great spot for street photography, the packed crowds navigating the shops in the low light provides us with some very good photo opportunities.
If you have some spare time and fancy a shopping trip or photography excursion then you definitely should go to Tianzifang for a while.
How to get there:
Take Metro Line 9, and get off at Dapu Road station, then the walk will be less than 5 minutes.
