Travel Destinations and Photo Spots
Naschmarkt is the most famous and perhaps the most popular market in Vienna. From the moment you walk into the marketplace you are struck by a variety of different smells and colours coming from the many stalls that line the space.
I had never seen such a wide variety of dried fruit and exotic fruits in one place before. The vendors sell ready to go food such as sandwiches, kebabs, hot dogs etc. Raw meat counters also occupy space in this market selling fish, beef, pork etc.
The market is open from 6am Monday to Saturday but it does close earlier on Saturdays at around 5pm.
There are quite a few hotels and hostels in the area of the Naschmarkt so it is quite easy to find your way there. I would highly recommend trying the different foods the vendors have to offer and it is nice to eat the food in the comfortable, chilled out environment that the market provides. Throughout my time in Vienna, the Naschmarkt was a place i visited every day for some food and I guarantee there is something to the taste of every traveller.
How to get there:
Taxi is the easiest option if you do not want to take public transport.
Take the U4 metro line to Karlsplatz or Kettenbrückengasse Station. Both stations are located at opposite ends of the Naschmarkt.
