Travel Destinations and Photo Spots
Gellert hill is located on the Buda side of the city. It is a 140 metre high rocky hill with footpaths leading to the top. There are several viewpoints along the way to the top of the hill at different heights which i stopped at along the way to get some shots of my own. It provides the best panoramic views of Budapest city and many great photo opportunities while enjoying your hike up to the top so i advise that you take your time and enjoy the climb. The walk up the hill takes approximately 10-15 minutes. Gellert Hill provides the most breathtaking views in the city and it is no surprise that UNESCO named the hill a World Heritage site.
The Citadel fortress resides at the peak of the hill and a large statue of a woman holding an olive branch the symbol of peace greets you. Familiar landmarks that can be seen from the Citadel include the Parliament Building, Buda Castle and Several of the bridges that connect Buda and Pest across the Danube River. I found that the views from here are a sight to be seen, especially around sunset.
