This quaint burger place is tucked away in the busy Hongdae streets filled with many different kinds of eateries. The premises are tiny, when I say tiny I mean it can hold perhaps 6-8 people seated and then the interior would be full. Burger 4.5 is mainly a takeaway burger establishment where people come to grab a quick meal before heading off on their way.
I walked past this restaurant many times but never ventured in due to the crowds that always seem to be there, it is a very popular place to eat amongst locals. On a quiet afternoon I found myself craving a burger and so I took the plunge to try out the food here. Luckily I had the entire restaurant to myself and my food was prepared fresh in front of me.
There are quite a few choices of burgers that include toppings such as onion, tomato, lettuce, spicy sauce, American cheese, mayonnaise etc. Chips are available as a side order and ketchup also comes along with the burger. If you would like a drink, there are multiple craft beers on offer and the restaurant also has the usual still water, fizzy drinks and some iced tea.
The portion sizes here are not too big, but the flavours you get from the burgers are very pleasing. The service is quick and in total, a meal will cost you roughly W11,000 or W12,000 (€8.00). That price includes a burger, toppings, a drink and some chips that is great value for the food you are getting here.
If you are passing through Hongdae and fancy a break from traditional Korean food then you should definitely check out Burger 4.5. It is a charming place and the owner is very friendly, providing an excellent service.
How to get there:
Take the metro to Hongik University Station on the green line. From there take exit 4 and use the map below to pinpoint the exact location. It is on one of the main restaurant streets in Hongdae.
