Chocolátl is a modern chocolate boutique/store that offers the finest brands and types of chocolate from all over the world.
The owner (Erik) states that they believe the shop is more like a “chocolate gallery”. The main focus of the shop is to sell single origin chocolate bars that are of the highest quality.
As you walk in the door, the walls of the store are lined with glass panels from which you can see the hundreds of chocolate bars within. The staff are very helpful and will spend a great amount of time introducing the different types of chocolate and explaining the different tastes and textures.
Samples are also offered to ensure that you are buying the correct chocolate that suits your taste buds.
At the back of the shop there is a seating area where you can enjoy a drink and chocolate in peace and quiet. During my visit here, the staff offered a free sample of hot chocolate made using white chocolate and it was delicious. The drinks are made with real chocolate and not a pre made powder like many retailers do.
It is fascinating to walk around the store seeing chocolates and names that you most likely have never seen before. The shop offers specialty chocolates too including Organic, Vegan, Fair Trade and more.
If you are spending a weekend or more in Amsterdam and seek something different to do then I recommend you make a stop here. My experience here was highly enjoyable and the staff make the store an incredibly friendly place to be.
How to get there:
The address is Hazenstraat 25-A, 1016 SM Amsterdam, Netherlands. Using the map below it should be simple to navigate your way to the shop. Most areas in Amsterdam are within walking distance.
